Dr. Paul Rowland is a “commissioned ruling elder” or lay pastor, commissioned to Berea since July of 2013.
He was born and raised in Georgia, as the son of a Presbyterian minister. Paul has psychology degrees from Davidson College and NCSU.
For more than thirty years, Paul was the psychologist for the NC Services for the Blind. On his retirement, he was awarded the “Order of the Longleaf Pine.”
Paul is married to Betty, who is Berea’s pianist. They have two children in college.
Paul loves to tell funny stories and says that humor is just a funny way of being serious. He’s an avid reader and, judging from the Berea dinners, a pretty good brownie baker.
